Cow horn

The cow horn is an instrument that, like the bukkehorn, has a long tradition in Norway. Initially, it was often used as a signaling instrument by shepherds and warriors, among others. As finger holes were drilled into it, it also became an instrument for entertainment purposes.

Today there is not such a strong living tradition of playing cow horns in Norway. In Sweden there is a stronger tradition of playing the cow horn or "vallhorn" as they call it.

The cow horn often has 3 - 4 finger holes and is available in various sizes.

The price of a cow horn is around 4000,- NOK ex. VAT) depending on size.
